The Great British Sewing bee went back to the 1970's

Sewing bee 1970.s decade revival episode 3

Last  week The Sewing bee the 1970.s decade revival  was about reviving the glamourous, rebellious and sometime ridiculous styles of the decade firstly going back to the iconic flared jeans where they had to learn how to do a fly zip and flat-felled seams whilst using vintage sewing machines which in my opinion are the best machines. They then had to use their imaginations by using t-shirts and tartan with chains and safety pins, rips and tears to create a punk rock outfits. From the ridiculous and rebellious to the refined and glamourous working with slippery, sheer and fine fabrics to create a fitted bodice and a floaty skirt. If any of these have inspired you why not come along to one of our courses or to one of our chat ‘n’ sew groups

Sandra has been coming to the Sew ‘n’ Chat groups for about four years now and started with me as a student on one of my pattern cutting courses. She is excellent at any challenge she chooses to do and has recently started to make beautiful handmade designer handbags. She took some to the Christmas craft fair and received excellent sales and feedback. She has now got her own designer label called Two Elevens and bags can be viewed and purchased via her website www.twoelevens.co.uk and also in my store. They would certainly make a wonderful Mother’s day gift.

Saturday courses for children will be available from April 2019
We are currently looking into starting a Saturday morning group for children over 8 years of age. It will be for two hours and we ask that an adult attends the group with each child for safety purposes, it is intended to start running these from Saturday 6th April dependent upon demand.  We will be making all sorts of wonderful things, and would encourage the children to arrive with their own ideas of what they would like to create.
We now have a new schedule for our chat 'n' sew group

We now have a new schedule for our chat 'n' sew groups, these run every week and are for people of varying capabilities from beginner to accomplished, they are for a maximum of eight people in each group and one staff member for four people.

We also have fabrics and notions you can purchase if you want to or you can bring your own with you. The price each week is £8 for two hours a week and you pay for six weeks in advance when you start and every six weeks after that. I will help you create whatever you want to sew and you can have a lovely friendly chat and a cup of tea or coffee or a soft drink with our wonderful groups.
