How to make a beach bag by Diane

You choose the fabric and off you go
Hello I am Diane from the Couture Charlee studios in Cambridgeshire, England. This is a video of how make a wonderful beach bag. It will hold all your towels, creams swim suits and much more. You will need your sewing machine, a pair of small scissors, fabric scissors, thread, bobbin thread, 70cm of main fabric, 70cm lightweight iron on interfacing, 40cm of contrast fabric, iron and ironing board, hand sewing needle, tweezers.  I will give you all the sizes of the panels and pieces so you can cut it out and then go on to make it with my step by step instructions.
You will need two squares of contrast fabric for the centre panels size 40cm x 40cm, four strips of main fabric measuring 8cm x 40cm for the side panels, two strips of main fabric measuring 54cm x 10cm  for the bottom of the panels, two large oblong pieces of main fabric and medium weight iron on interfacing measuring 54cm x 70 cm for the lining of the bag, two long strips of the main fabric measuring 12cm x 70cm for the handles of the bag.
You can choose your fabrics and even use the bag for shopping or going away it is entirely up to you. Happy sewing Diane.

We all have clothes that are almost in fashion in our wardrobe or are tired looking and we also have clothes that we love to wear but the fabric they are made out of is dated. This course will show you how to redesign your wardrobe by making a few new additions to enhance what you have or designing a new piece from one you already have. Sew ‘n’ chat sewing groups

The lovely weather is on the way and I think we have all had enough of winter so why not come and join one of our sew ‘n’ chat groups and do some wonderful sewing outside when the weather is fine and dandy. I have some places left on Monday afternoons and Friday mornings we have plenty of tea, coffee and soft drinks if you would like and we all have a lovely time just sewing and chatting. It is lovely to sit and sew with likeminded people and share all your skills and tips with each other. These are for two hours and the sessions are at 10am to 12noon, 1pm to 3pm and 3-30pm to 5-30pm. I am fully booked on Monday's session 10am to 12noon and Friday's session 1pm to 3pm but I do have some places available in the other sessions. Contact me on the contact form at the bottom of this page or get my details on the contact us page. The cost is £10 per session and is payable in advance for 6 weeks, terms and conditions apply.

Coming at the beginning of September are two weeks of upholstery courses for the intermediate student. You will have a choice of re-covering a high back dining chair, re-covering a stool, make a set of loose covers for your conservatory furniture or make a set of four scatter cushions. I have had a lot of people asking me if I do any weekend courses because a lot of people work during the week so I have decided to do Saturday courses through September and October. Fabric design drawing and painting on fabric- half a day course

Fabric design drawing and painting on fabric-intermediate This course will show you how to paint and draw designs on fabric and where to find inspiration from. It is a half a day course which is held on a Friday morning or a Monday afternoon. All of our courses are run on a maximum of a 4 to 1 ratio or a 2 to 1 ratio which means 4 students to one tutor or two students to one tutor. This course will start at 10am and finish at 1pm and I would like you to arrive at 9-30am so that you can settle in please. £49.00
